Questo è uno dei brani Ragtime più famosi, anche perché fu inserito nella colonna sonora del film "La stangata" negli anni '70. L'originale pianistico è in tonalità di Do, ma io l'ho trascritto in tonalità di La per rendere più facili e fluide le diteggiature. E' la prima trascrizione a cui mi sono dedicato.

This is one of the most famous Ragtime songs, also because it was included in the soundtrack of the film "The Sting" in the 70s. The piano original is in the key of C, but I transcribed it in the key of A to make the fingerings easier and more fluid. It's the first transcription I dedicated myself to.

Modesty Rag - James Scott (1920)

Di questo magnifico brano di James Scott, uno dei tre più grandi compositori Ragtime, potete trovare su YouTube solo una versione per chitarra, ma per duetto. Io ho accettato la sfida di trascriverlo per chitarra sola e, sinceramente, è il lavoro che finora mi è meglio riuscito e che mi ha dato più soddisfazione.

Of this magnificent piece by James Scott, one of the three greatest Ragtime composers, you can only find a version for guitar on YouTube, but for a duet. I accepted the challenge of transcribing it for solo guitar and, honestly, it is the work that has succeeded me best so far and that has given me the most satisfaction.

Crazy bone Rag - Charles L. Johnson (1913)

Questo brano si può definire più "leggero" rispetto ai primi due. Charles L. Johnson è stato un autore abbastanza prolifico di brani Ragtime e quello suo più famoso è sicuramente "Dill Pickles Rag". La mia non è l'unica trascrizione per chitarra di questo Rag che potete trovare in rete; l'altra l'ha fatta un altro chitarrista amante del genere che su TouTube va sotto il nome di Rémi B Goode. La mia comunque è in tonalità originale e, ad occhio, mi sembra un tantino più suonabile. In ogni caso sul suo profilo trovate purtroppo solo esecuzioni ( è bravissimo!), ma non spartiti. 

This song can be defined as "lighter" than the first two. Charles L. Johnson was a fairly prolific author of Ragtime songs and his most famous one is certainly "Dill Pickles Rag". Mine is not the only guitar transcription of this Rag that you can find online; the other was made by another guitarist who loves the genre and goes by the name of Rémi B Goode on TuTube. However, mine is in the original key and, to my eye, it seems a little more playable. In any case, unfortunately on his profile you can only find performances (he's very good!), but not scores.

X.L. Rag - Lee Edgar Settle (1903)

Questo è l'unico brano pubblicato di Lee Edgar Settle, dedicato ai membri del X.L. Club di New Flanklin, Missouri. La mia trascrizione è nella tonalità di Do (C), rispetto a quella originale di Reb (Db), per ovvi motivi di facilità e scorrevolezza delle posizioni.

This is the only published song by Lee Edgar Settle, dedicated to the members of X.L. Club of New Flanklin, Missouri. My transcription is in the key of C, compared to the original one of Db, for obvious reasons of ease and fluency of the positions.

Spring Time Rag - Paul Pratt (1916)

La fonte di ispirazione per questa trascrizione mi è venuta dalla splendida performance di questo brano di Craig Ventresco che sta su YouTube. Comunque la sua trascrizione è abbastanza distante dall'originale pianistico, anche nella tonalità, quindi la mia sfida è stata quella di elaborare un arrangiamento molto più fedele. Questo brano si è prestato moltissimo all'esecuzione chitarristica e ne è derivata una trascrizione abbastanza semplice da suonare (la tonalità di Sol aiuta....) e di ottima resa.

The source of inspiration for this transcription came from Craig Ventresco's splendid performance of this song on YouTube. However, his transcription is quite distant from the piano original, even in key, so my challenge was to come up with a much more faithful arrangement. This piece lent itself very well to guitar playing and the result was a transcription that was quite simple to play (the key of G helps....) and with excellent performance.
